Comedian Kathy Griffin has shaved off her signature red locks to stand in solidarity with her sick sister.
Photos of the star surfaced last night. It is believed that she shaved her head to show support for her sister Joyce, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.
An image of the 56-year-old comedian and actress was shared by journalist Yashar Ali on Monday (July 31) showing her smiling and patting her bald head after the big cut.
Griffin, from Illinois, has a tragic family past with cancer, as she lost her brother Gary, 63, three years ago in the wake of a what she called “a brutal struggle” with oesophagal cancer.
Griffin hasn’t spoken publicly about her sister’s diagnosis and the type of cancer has not been confirmed, reported the Daily Mail.
The actress’ mother, Maggie Griffin, 97, posted the images on Twitter of thoughtful new ‘do with the caption, “My daughter Kathleen Mary is a wonderful human being.”
