80% of cancer patients die within a year of being diagnosed in the East African country
Oncologists in Uganda are calling for free treatment for cancer patients as a remedy to the high cancer-related mortality rates.
The executive director of Uganda Cancer Institute Dr Jackson Orem says that due to the expensive nature of the treatment, 80% of cancer patients die within a year of being diagnosed.
The oncologists are attending an international conference of Cancer and palliative care in Munyonyo, Kampala, reported NTV.
