The news of a pregnancy or a recent birth is an exciting time for all prospective and existing parents. It can, however, be cruelly interrupted by the news of a cancer diagnosis and the worry that this brings to both the woman involved and the wider family.

Mummy’s Star

Pete Wallroth lost his wife Mair to cancer just ten weeks after the birth of their second child. His family’s store of loss, hope, help and inspiration lead to the establishment of Mummy’s Star.

After his beloved Mair passed away, Pete set up Mummy’s Star, a unique cancer support charity to raise awareness and offer support to women who are battling cancer while pregnant. Running for five years already, Mummy’s Star provides important social links, advice and emergency financial relief for families affected in this way.

Hope for Two…The Pregnant with Cancer Network

Hope for Two…The Pregnant with Cancer Network offers free support pregnant mums with cancer. They connect women who are currently pregnant with cancer with other women who have experienced a similar cancer diagnosis.

Providing support since 1997, Hope for Two… serve women from all socioeconomic, ethnic and religious background worldwide

Mothers With Cancer

Mothers With Cancer is a collective of 20 mothers with cancer. Each member has a different cancer type, stage, and/or prognosis and each has children of different ages. Although they all have different experiences of cancer, they all agree on one thing: this experience needs to be talked about and should be brought out of the shadows.

For Mums Whose Child Has Cancer

One Mother to Another

When a child gets cancer it has a huge impact on the entire family, not least the child’s mother. In celebration of Mother’s Day, World Child Cancer launched its new One Mother To Another campaign. As part of the campaign, they will be selling beautifully handcrafted Ghanaian jewellery made by the mothers of children undergoing cancer treatment.

100% of the proceeds is donated back to the mothers, enabling them to have a livelihood whilst they are away from home and staying with their child in the hospital for months at a time. The jewellery making training project, which lasts 12 weeks, teaches mothers new skills that they can continue when they return home. Additionally, this training acts as a form of psycho-social support and creates a supportive environment during an incredibly hard time.
