Using dilators can help improve comfort and sexual health after cancer treatment. The different sizes included in this set allow for gentle, comfortable graduation.

Key Features:

  • Set of 5 dilators for reducing vaginal discomfort after radiotherapy.
  • Easy to use finger loop and ergonomic design for your hand and body.
  • Made of medical grade silicone - soft, hypoallergenic and easy to clean.

It’s possible for radiotherapy to create scar tissue inside the vaginal cavity, shortening and narrowing the space and in some cases causing the vaginal walls to stick together. This can cause discomfort and even pain during intercourse, pelvic examinations and even daily life.

The regular use of a dilator can help prevent the formation of this tissue, and gradually increase the capacity of the vagina to make penetration more comfortable and enjoyable for everybody.

The Inspire Silicone kit is a great choice for anyone who has not used dilators before and is concerned about correct use. The broad range of sizes and tapered shape mean insertion should never be painful, and the ergonomic finger loop allows full control during use. The premium silicone material is soft, smooth and quickly adapts to body heat for a natural sensation.

Once inflammation has reduced in the weeks after your last treatment, start with the size that is most comfortable for you, and with regular and continued use it is possible to gently increase capacity, allowing you to graduate through the sizes to whatever is most suitable for your needs. This can mean a happier and healthier relationship with this important and intimate part of the body.

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this product will go to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a charity working to support those who’s lives have been impacted by breast cancer.

It is recommended that this product is used in conjunction with a high quality lubricant.

Please note: do not use dilators during cancer treatment, as tissue is still sore and sensitive during this time. Wait for at least two weeks after your last treatment to give any inflammation the chance to go down.

  1. Start with the size that is most comfortable for you.
  2. Using the size that is most comfortable for you, slowly insert the round end of the dilator into your vagina.
  3. Always insert it in the direction of your spine (back) straight or at a slightly downward angle, like you would insert a tampon.
  4. Continue to insert the dilator slowly until you feel slight discomfort or muscle tension, then stop.
  5. The dilator should feel snug but not painful.
  6. Never use force and stop if you feel pain.
  7. If you don’t feel any pressure when you insert it, you might need to use a larger sized dilator.
  8. Allow the dilator to stay in position for at least a few minutes.
  9. If it does not cause you any discomfort, you could try doing Kegel exercises during this time.
  10. Gently push the dilator in and out to stretch the length of your vagina.
  11. Gently rotate the dilator in wide circles to stretch the width of your vagina.
  12. Repeat this at the back, middle, and opening of your vagina.
  13. When you’re finished with these steps, remove the dilator.
  14. Wash your dilator with hot, soapy water. Then dry it with a clean towel or paper towel.
  15. Store it as instructed in your kit.

The shape makes them comfortable to use and they are not rigid plastic so offers a certain amount of flexibility.
