The world’s first cup with a rotating handle makes drinking much easier for people with limited dexterity, restricted movement or a weakened grip. The comfortable and dignified way to drink.
Key Features:
- Designed to look and feel like a fine bone china coffee mug.
- Self-stabilising technology makes spillages much less likely.
- Discrete hidden lid reduces spills and keeps drinks hotter for longer.
- Dishwasher and microwave safe.
The handSteady is packed with features that make it an ideal companion for anybody living with cancer. It’s the comfortable, dignified and easy way to enjoy your favourite beverages. Whilst its made from shatter-proof polypropylene plastic, the mug has been cleverly designed to look and feel much like a traditional bone china mug so that the user can feel confident, independent and hydrated.
The rotating handle means the cup self-stabilises, so it’s much harder to accidentally spill any liquid, but it also makes the act of drinking more comfortable. The 360 degree rotation of the handle allows you to take a sip without bending your wrist, lifting your elbow or moving your head back as far. These are all aspects of drinking that can cause discomfort or pain for people with restricted movement. The handle itself is also large enough to fit all four fingers so that weight is distributed more evenly when you’re holding the cup.
The handSteady is approximately 30% lighter than normal china cups, so as well as less stress on the joints and hands, weight is reduced too. All in all the handSteady is helpful for all sorts of different people as a result of its clever, practical design. If you or a loved one have been experiencing issues with drinking, the handSteady might be able to help.
- Material: Polypropelene, with a silicon seal around the rim of the Hidden Lid
- Both are BPA free food and drink safe
- The clips in the Rotatable Handle and ball bearings are acetal, and the balls in the bearings are glass
- Size: 250ml
- Dishwasher and microwave safe
You can hold the Rotatable Handle at any comfortable angle, and gravity will keep the cup upright and steady. This is helpful if you have limited dexterity or weakness in your wrist, as it enables you to avoid spills and drink without bending your wrist.
You can tilt handSteady by holding it by the handle close to your mouth, then pivoting it with your mouth, thumb, or other hand.
You get more control over the liquid flow because one hands takes the weight of the cup and drink through the handle whilst you control the tilt of the cup with your other hand, thumb or mouth controls the liquid flow.
handSteady cups with a Hidden Lid™ accessory. It is discrete (you can hardly see the lid), keeps drinks hotter for longer and reduces liquid flow and spills.
The lid is easy to insert and remove from the cup has a drink hole that you can also use with a straw to extend its use.
The Rotatable Handle removes the need to bend your wrist or raise your arm. Simply fix your wrist and the lift the cup by bending your elbow. Ideal if you have wrist pain or weakness.
You can also get more comfort for your fingers, wrists, arms and shoulders because the cup is lightweight (109g / 3.8oz) and the large-sized handle spreads the weight across your whole hand.
If you have tremors, the Rotatable Handle can be held at 90 degrees with your palm facing up or down. In this position your forearm can’t twist any further, so tremor can be less for many people.
The Rotatable Handle frees you to keep your elbows anchored into your side or on a surface throughout the drinking process for additional stability.
I got the mug to help my Dad, it's great best thing I've bought for a long time, my dad doesn't spill his drink anymore and can have a hot cup of tea.
This is such a good idea, and has made having a cup of tea much less risky!
